Israel Shows How Boosters And Vaccine Passports Can Help Manage The Virus

November 1, 2021

Israel – the first to vaccinate, first to reopen, first to offer booster shots. Now, just 6 weeks after a dangerous COVID-19 wave due to the Delta variant, Israel is returning to life close to normal. Deaths and infections have plummeted – largely thanks to booster shots and vaccine passports.

Israel took a risky move and approved booster shots during their worst COVID-19 wave, and it paid off. Infections, hospitalisations and deaths dropped off. Almost 95-99% of hospitalisations were amongst unvaccinated people or those who hadn’t received a booster shot. Now, Israelis can enjoy most freedoms if they can show their ‘green pass’ – proof of their 3 doses of the vaccine. According to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the green pass system allows Israel to stay open and safe. In addition to booster shots and green passes, widespread testing (including PCR and rapid antigen testing) as well as some mask mandates have helped to keep infections at bay.
