First COVID-19 Home Testing Kists Approved For Use In Australia October 15, 2021 Australia’s medical regulator has official approved the first COVID-19 self-testing kits for use in Australia. The rapid antigen test kits can be supplied around Australia from November 1. Home testing will form another layer of protection for Australians as we continue to reopen. Currently, only 3 tests have been approved: two ‘spit’ tests, and one self-administered nasal swabs. The kits will become available online, as well as through pharmacies and convenience stores. Free PCR testing will still be available at state-run testing centres.
