European ICUs Largely Treating Unvaccinated

November 24, 2021

Head of the Oxford jab programme Andrew Pollard says that the threat of COVID is diminishing for those who are vaccinated. While the vaccine does not confer immunity or prevent transmission, current statistics suggest that those who are succumbing to severe symptoms are largely unvaccinated.

Pollard, one of the main figures behind the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, believes that despite high vaccination rates throughout much of Europe, COVID may present a public health problem for those who are not vaccinated and “double-jabbed” patients who are older or have co-morbidities.

Other experts including Prof. Peter Openshaw of the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag) are emphasising the fact that “no single measure is going to be successful”. “[W]e do need to try and reduce the level of circulation of the virus”. While the world still looks for answers to COVID, European nations are doing what they can to restrict the spread over the winter.
