COVID-19 Death Rate Surging In The UK

Since abolishing nearly all restrictions, cases have continued to rise in the UK. Daily case numbers are well above 40,000, and the daily death toll is well above 200 people a day. Last week, the Office for National Statistics estimated that one in 60 people in England has the virus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has flagged that some restrictions could be reintroduced if the health system was under too much strain, including masks and vaccine passes. However, the government is not changing any restrictions yet. Some experts fear case numbers are rising and will continue to rise due to waning immunity from vaccines.
