Belgium Woman Infected With Two COVID-19 Variants At Once

An elderly woman in Belgium has become one of the first recorded cases of two simultaneous COVID-19 infections. The 90-year-old woman had been infected with both the Alpha and Beta COVID-19 variants, and unfortunately passed away 5 days after her initial diagnosis.

Sadly, Australia also reported a COVID-19 death on the weekend – our first this year. The woman in her 90s died in Sydney after contracting the virus in a family setting. Unfortunately, things are likely to worsen, with NSW expecting over 100 cases today. Australia has recorded 911 deaths, and over 31,000 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
