Australians May Need COVID-19 Booster Shots Every 6-12 Months For Years

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has warned Australians that we may need to get COVID-19 booster shots every 6-12 months for the foreseeable future to keep the pandemic at bay. Pharmacy Guild president Mr Trent Twomey explained that it may take a couple years to reach a steady vaccination program, but that “in time we will treat Covid like many other viruses that have been around for decades, and a Covid-19 shot will just be another element of the Australian vaccination program.”

From today, November 8, Pfizer booster shots are available for all adults 6 months after their second dose. Australia is only the second country in the world to approve booster shots for all adults, after Israel. Whether or not you will need a recent booster shot to be considered fully vaccinated will be determined by each state and territory.
